At Little Linc Preschool, our days begin with Bible time. Our preschool exists to share the transforming power of the Gospel of Christ, so prioritizing the teaching of God’s Word is so important! Over the fall, the children will learn key stories from the Old Testament, starting with how God made the world and how sin entered the world. We focus on our need for a Savior culminating at Advent when Jesus is born. In the spring, we will learn about the life and ministry of Jesus, especially focusing on His death and resurrection.
The Bible stories are brought to life with small wooden characters the teachers use to tell the stories. By the end of the week, the children participate in the retelling and are then allowed to tell the stories by themselves during their free choice time. We know that children learn through play, and we love giving them a chance to “play” with the Bible stories. The teachers incorporate songs and prayer during Bible time every day, and the children make a craft to remind them of the Bible story. These crafts are collected over the year into a keepsake notebook for the family to enjoy. The preschoolers are also memorizing the Lord’s Prayer with sign language this fall. We know that the words of scripture are alive and active, and we trust the Lord to use those words hidden in these young hearts for His glory.
One of our greatest joys at Little Linc is sharing the Bible lessons with our families. Every child is given an age appropriate Bible and binder with the lesson for the week. The lessons were written by one of our preschool staff and include tips for the parents to engage their child, discussion questions, and prayer suggestions. There is also a place to write down family prayer requests. Each week, the children bring their binder back to school in their special Bible bag to receive a treat and new lesson. Please pray with us that our families will choose to make time in God’s Word a priority and that every parent and child will have a relationship with Jesus!
