Praise God! The learning lab is operating smoothly and efficiently. Thanks to the positive attitude and faithfulness of the lab workers. Our students work hard to complete all of their homework before they leave Learning Lab each day. We are grateful that our Learning Lab teachers are eager and able to help students of all ages! Teamwork makes the dream work!

It’s February, and we are having fun getting ready for Valentine’s Day at Little Linc Preschool! We love celebrating the friendships the children are developing at school. One of our main goals at the preschool is to teach the children how to “do” school. Simple things like listening when the teacher speaks, following directions, and being kind to your classmates are critical skills our students will need in order to be successful in school. Valentine’s Day is a great chance to celebrate friendship and practice being kind to our friends.

Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests. Luke 2:14
We give glory to God this Christmas season as we remember the reason we have a hope to share with our students and their families at Little Linc Preschool. Jesus Christ became Immanuel, “God with us.” What a joy to share the truth of Advent with our little ones!

At Little Linc Preschool, our days begin with Bible time. Our preschool exists to share the transforming power of the Gospel of Christ, so prioritizing the teaching of God’s Word is so important! Over the fall, the children will learn key stories from the Old Testament, starting with how God made the world and how sin entered the world. We focus on our need for a Savior culminating at Advent when Jesus is born. In the spring, we will learn about the life and ministry of Jesus, especially focusing on His death and resurrection.

The Bible stories are brought to life with small wooden characters the teachers use to tell the stories. By the end of the week, the children participate in the retelling and are then allowed to tell the stories by themselves during their free choice time. We know that children learn through play, and we love giving them a chance to “play” with the Bible stories. The teachers incorporate songs and prayer during Bible time every day, and the children make a craft to remind them of the Bible story. These crafts are collected over the year into a keepsake notebook for the family to enjoy. The preschoolers are also memorizing the Lord’s Prayer with sign language this fall. We know that the words of scripture are alive and active, and we trust the Lord to use those words hidden in these young hearts for His glory.

One of our greatest joys at Little Linc is sharing the Bible lessons with our families. Every child is given an age appropriate Bible and binder with the lesson for the week. The lessons were written by one of our preschool staff and include tips for the parents to engage their child, discussion questions, and prayer suggestions. There is also a place to write down family prayer requests. Each week, the children bring their binder back to school in their special Bible bag to receive a treat and new lesson. Please pray with us that our families will choose to make time in God’s Word a priority and that every parent and child will have a relationship with Jesus!

The teachers of Little Linc Preschool are thrilled to be serving the Lincoln community once again with a safe and God-focused childcare program. What a blessing for all of us to begin to return to “normal” and live in community again! We are deeply thankful for the generosity of our supporters who quickly purchased everything we needed to keep our preschoolers safe! From cleaning supplies to masks to face shields to HEPA filters, you gave it all! Thank you for making it possible for our children to return to school!

With new safety measures and protocols in place, we’ve had to get creative to communicate daily lessons to our students. But we are thankful to know that the love of Jesus is not restricted by face masks! We can still pray with our students, tell them Bible stories, and explain to each child how precious they are to their Heavenly Father. What a blessing to focus on our mission to share the transforming power of the Gospel of Christ with every family at Little Linc!

God went before us this summer and provided a grant from the Kiwanis Club to expand our preschool playground. Our playground project involved adding a new section to the playground so that each preschool class can be outside as much as they are able without the classes sharing the same space. Little did we know at the time we were requesting the grant that this would be a primary recommendation for keeping children safe at school! God is so good to guide our steps! We are incredibly thankful to the Kiwanis Club and the many, many individuals who gave their time and talent to make this new playground space a labor of love. Our children absolutely love it!

Little Linc Preschool hosted a drive-by graduation on May 15th for our students and their families. Each family pulled through the carpool line while their teachers cheered them on. Every child received a balloon, a special poster with their name, an award recognizing a special contribution the child made to the class, and a pack of summer fun activities. After two months at home, it was a huge joy for teachers and families to reconnect!

For the safety of our students and staff, Little Linc Preschool will remain closed for the remainder of the school year. While we are missing this time with the children, we are thankful that most of our students will return to the preschool or to Lincoln Academy for kindergarten next year. We see the Lord work most often through relationships that have been developed over several years, so we are grateful for the chance to continue to work with the same families. Our staff continues to stay in contact with each family. This week the children will be picking up a fun pack of preschool friendly activities to enjoy at home. The parents have links to videos showing the children how to do each activity. We’re hopeful this will be a fun break and encouragement to our families. We are also mailing out awards and diplomas to each child recognizing the ways they have been a blessing at the preschool.

Thank you for your continued prayers and partnership with Lincoln Village Ministry. While these times feel uncertain, we know that God is at work and He is in control. “The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1
