One-On-One Discipleship

One-on-one discipleship looks very similar in every relationship we encounter. We wholeheartedly invest ourselves in the lives of others with the sole purpose of sharing the transforming power of Jesus through our own broken yet redemptive stories (Luke 8:39). There are times when we walk through a topical study, discuss the bible together (2 Timothy 3:16-17), pray for each other (Colossians 1:9-13), or simply come together to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:1-2). Love motivates us to live out relationships (Philippians 2:3-4) the same way Jesus invested in the lives of his disciples. “A new commandment I give you; that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35)

Local Churches

Each of us are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), designed with unique gifts (1 Corinthians 12:4), and have been given a special role within our community (1 Peter 4:10). We were designed to need each other (Hebrews 3:13), grow with each other (James 5:19-20), and experience the fullness of Christ because we are with others who bear His image (Colossians 3:16). It is important that we have others who genuinely care for us and that we invest ourselves in caring for others (2 Corinthians 5:18-20). We encourage families in the Lincoln Community to join a local church body in-order to develop deep, caring, long-lasting relationships (John 13:34-35). Lincoln Village Ministry provides the Lincoln community with various church options and encourages each family to visit different churches within our city to find a place where their family feels most connected. “You are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, build on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.” Ephesians 2:19-22
