The Lincoln Campus
Revitalizing the Lincoln Community.
Lincoln Village Ministry serves the community of the Lincoln Mill area now called Lincoln Village. Families need spiritual, physical, emotional, social, and psychological support. We’ve made a long-term commitment to this community. By participating in every aspect of life, Lincoln Village Ministry desires to break the bonds of generational poverty and transform lives for Christ.
In 2002, with the support of churches in the community, concentrated interest and activity began in Lincoln Village. What was once a run-down area has become a neighborhood of committed friends and residents. Since the inception of Lincoln Village Ministry, historical properties within the Lincoln Mill Village area have been purchased and refurbished to provide safe and affordable housing for residents in the area. Rental homes range from $300 – $375 per month allowing families the time needed to improve their financial situation.
The Village includes twenty-two residential homes. Two additional buildings were renovated and provide rental office space for the administrative staff of HEALS, Inc. and LINC Research, a HUBZone (Historically Underutilized Business Zone) business, which must employ 35% of its workforce from within a low-income area. The Village also has a community center, The Lincoln House, where residents come for fun, fellowship, and learning opportunities.
All of these structures have been completely renovated by thousands of volunteers from around the country. The vast majority of the credit for this portion of the work is due to two groups of retirees (the “old guys” and a few ladies) from Weatherly Heights Baptist Church and First Baptist Church, both of Huntsville. These two groups have been coming on a weekly basis for over 10 years. Their commitment and faithfulness has not only allowed Lincoln Village Ministry to make such progress in this area but they are also a huge blessing and encouragement to the Lincoln Village Ministry staff.
Lincoln Village Ministry began in 2002 with the purpose to purchase and renovate Lincoln Village houses to redeem and restore a neighborhood which – once thriving – had fallen into disrepair. The goal was to provide safe, affordable housing to Lincoln Village residents while sharing the transforming power of the Gospel of Christ. The Village neighborhood is now a place of peace. All glory to God!
The ministry is advancing God’s Kingdom on three streets just to the north of Lincoln Academy across Meridian Street (“Lincoln North”). The past has become present again and hopelessness, fear, and despair prevail in the lives of those we have met. Lincoln staff and trusted friends have been walking the three streets of Lincoln North for the past few years. We are intentional in taking time to cultivate relationships, walk amongst the chaos, and pray for the Lord’s wisdom and favor. With years of experience in successfully redeeming and restoring a neighborhood, Lincoln Village Ministry has learned this process takes time, patience, and prayer.
Lincoln Village Ministry has secured funding to purchase a number of housing units in Lincoln North. The next step is to renovate the homes, providing additional safe and affordable housing for additional families in the community.
